I never knew at the time it was a converted movie theater. You wud think the old marquee would have given me a clue! It was pretty run down and the shoes looked like hell mostly. (Maple lanes in Boro Park is where the serious bowlers went!)For a buck you got 2 games including those shoes and next door the pizzeria had the Wednesday St.Rose bowling league special - a buck for 2 slices and a soda. You can't beat that. We used to get out at 1pm on wednesdays so the public school kids could go to ccd. It was a nice deal, except when they would occasionally steal something from your desk. You know, the ones with the compartment under the seat for all your stuff. It was great fun. Too bad now we worry about alot more than not throwing a gutter ball in front of your friends or getting a foot rash from those shoes. -JoeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845436933807383233.post-41185653135050412242009-02-04T19:40:00.000-05:002009-02-04T19:40:00.000-05:00The bowling alley absolutely had the best fries, a...The bowling alley absolutely had the best fries, and damn good burgers too, remember the cook with the coke bottle eye glasses, he was freaky looking, probably didn't help sales much. Atlantic service co. had a huge league my mother and brother were in it, I remember going to watch thursday nights, 8th st. had a few great bowlers, plenty of three hundred rollers, miss those days, WillAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845436933807383233.post-26345686170796562842009-02-04T08:30:00.000-05:002009-02-04T08:30:00.000-05:00Sad all the bowling alleys and movie theatres for ...Sad all the bowling alleys and movie theatres for that matter are closing. I bowled @ Park Circle as late as 87 or 88 so probably one of the last leagues. Mostly I bowled @ Maple and ended up at Park Circle after a falling out BUT Maple is NOT in Kensington so therefore we won't count it. I loved the Ice Skating Rink. I feel bad for the horses so I can't think about the stables but yes I loved the Roller Rink too. I checked coats there for 1 day to help out what a mob scene.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845436933807383233.post-33686295431296198252009-02-04T00:12:00.000-05:002009-02-04T00:12:00.000-05:00When I was at IHM we had an after school league. One of the things I remember was we would walk down Fort Hamilton Parkway and eventually we crossed the highway and walked behind the roller rink to get there. How dangerous was that? My team was The Lumberjacks, (Mark Bowen, Jimmy Quinlan, John Tracy and Jimmy Spinner) We took first place all four years, 5th through 8th grade and the same team came in second every year (Chrissy Ryan, Darren D'arcy, Joe Belletiere and I think Ronald Hardy) Those were the best damn french fries I ever had.

Nice Work Lopez you brought back some good memories, SpinnerSpinnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05368741303024723434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5845436933807383233.post-1392491125441947322009-02-03T17:25:00.000-05:002009-02-03T17:25:00.000-05:00I had Family that lived on east fourth up by green...I had Family that lived on east fourth up by greenwood rd and vanderbuilt (i think) They used to take me over to park circle before I even moved to Kenningston.
