Just Found a Treasure!!!!!

I was able to snatch these old photo's from the "Property Shark" website. Paid 69 bucks and now I'll be able to get an old photo of every building in Brooklyn. Most of them seem to be from the early 80's, and it's going to be fun let me tell you!!

If you send me your old address, I'll post your house picture.

Super cool, Ron! Do you know what that "bbq" joint was? Was it like a ribs/chicken/fries catering place?

Hi Noisejoke,

Miss all your comments from the Kensington Blog, I hope it gets off the ground again soon. And a Happy New Year also. Now, as far as I remember the BBQ place was some kind of Jewish deli joint. In fact that whole strip on Church between East 2nd and McDonald had a number of Jewish deli type places.

Yes, even I an unbelieving Christian had my first Kosher egg roll at one of those joints.

Lopez, I love seeing the trees! Look at the beautiful tree in front of Comper's and Savinos. You think that's my father's Caprice Classic station wagon in front of Buzzies? See you soon, Spinner

Those pics are the "mother lode"! As for the BBQ place it was a kosher "rotisserie" place that had the best chickens you could find anywhere. It was between Scarola's and the kosher deli which was at one time called Gorelick's.
If you could post a pic of 25 Tehama Street I'd love to see the old plaque my dad had outside the front door..."Counsellor at law".

Hey Mark,

Sorry, but on Property Shark they do not have an old picture of 25 Tehama street. Just a recent one from 2 or 3 years ago.

Thanks for checking it out Ron. When my Dad died in 1982 we sold the house. It's a four-family my grandfather built in the late 20s along with others like it on the block. He went broke in the Depression but managed to hold on to #25. As for that plaque? I pried it off the brick when the place got sold and it's in my garage out here in NJ right now. Just looking at it brings back such warm memories of my childhood.
In so many ways folks like you keep those memories alive and for that I thank you.

Lopez, The Cortelyou Deli where Siz and I worked, was on the corner of Cortelyou Road and Westminster Road. Not sure about the actual address. Now I think it's a bodega. How could we find out the address?
