Can anyone guess the location of this Kensington photo?
It is a photo from 1980 actually, now it's much nicer!
Betty has tons of great Brooklyn photos new and old, and many of
Kensington from way back when.

That looks like McDonald Avenue right where the F-train goes above ground.
Looks like it might be McDonald Avenue near Church Avenue. But could also be Coney Island Avenue. Not sure.
Agree with lornagrl - this is McDonald off Ave C right where Josh and Charlie used to hang out in the 70's - said to see the buildings in such piss-poor shape.
thats little pakastan now
Ave C & McDonald Avenue
Keep up the good work

yeh everyone beat me to it. I lived around the corner on Cortelyou at that time, we kids ( was elementary aged) never set foot on that block even during the day, there wasnt anything specifically spooky, it just to detached from life to be around.
Hey Ron,
For those of us no longer in the area, do you think you may be able to post a current photo of this same corner? I liked the Yesterday and Today photos you posted of Church & McDonald, very cool. Interesting to see Silver Rod was around that long ago and located where Denny's is now. When I lived in the area, Silver Rod was a few doors down going towards E 2nd. All the best. -Joe A.
I miss Silver Rod.
Her collection of movie theaters snaps is fantastic.
For the Bicentennial (1976), I remember somebody painted a large US flag on the cement wall. I think it is still there.
There was a spice factory around here. I always use to see rats running around.
