I know this location was many things before the 70's.
The corner of East 5th and Church (South/West) to be exact.
And forget about buying something "curved" there because
all they sold were "straights"

Royal Sporting Goods!
I remember it well! I think it was spelled "Royale" though? It had the sign hanging from the building with the big crown on it. Anyway, I remember going in there so many times just to look at all the 'official' equipment that I couldn't afford. I finally saved enough money to buy my first pair of hockey gloves. My knuckles finally got a chance to heal! There's still a Royale sporting goods over by bush terminal, I wonder if it's owned by the same people? I haven't lived in the neighborhood for a while now, what is that store that is there now, I can't tell? - Joe A.
I'm back in the 50s again and even thelate 40s. The store on the corner of E 5th & Church was Victors Toy shop in those days. He was a nice man and the store was a little more organized than Kenny's. There was every kind of toy you wanted, from cheap to expensive. Next door to him was Kitty's clothing store. My mom used to work there and I would stop in after school and had fun trying on clothes. Next to her was a little Jewish bakery that had great fruit tarts. I would not recognize that corner now. When did those apartments come.
who remembers Victors toy store before Royale???

jim c again - talking about toy stores - who remembers Lee's that was near Original Pizza back around 1969. First Kenny had competetion with Victors on east 5then Lees between 2nd and 3rd.
Not only was it Royale Sporting goods, but if I remeber correctly Willie Ratka lived right upstairs ! !
I remember this corner store as Victors as well. I was really into plastic modelling at the time, cars and ships and the like, and I bought many a model kit there, as well as at Lee's later on.
