I know but won't tell you so someone else can have a shot at it(HINT: We (Gruder & others) used to play Tuesday night basketball in the building across the street)
That trolley is coming out of the underpass under Ocean Pkwy, on Church Ave, I wonder if the Sportsman lounge was there yet? Those people in the picture are probably long passed, but I wish I could have seen their times in Kengsington, Will
Yes, it was Church Ave & E 5th St. Looks like it was taken in the 50s. Used to go to candy store on corner and buy comic books and had the greates marshmallow sundaes. Used to sit in the booth with my dad and enjoy them every Sunday.
I think the candy store was called Irvings (or at least was owned by Irving). Also in that row of store, I remember Sam's meat market (he used to deliver and give us kids chicken feet). There was Moe's bar & grill, where my dad would take us sometimes on a Sunday after they played softball. He introduced me to ALan Dale who was (at that time a well-known singer). He lived on East 5th between Church and Albermarle. I remember being so awstruck I couldn't talk. A pretty big drug store was on the corner (SE corner of Ocean Parkway). I have been longing to go back there. Kids have been promising to take me, but so far have been too busy. I never got a license, or I would ddrive there myself. Someday soon, I hope to get there.
Please enjoy all our stories of what it was like growing up in Kensington and Windsor Terrace in a time long forgotten. And always remember the streets that raised and taught you well.

Is it McDonald Ave before the elevated line was built?
Looks to me like the corner of East 5th and Church Ave with the trolley underpass under Ocean Parkway (that I almost remember) in the background.
On McDonald Avenue heading toward ditmas.. close to where the F-train runs now.

Church Ave between E 5th and Ocean Pkway
